Runway AI alternatives.
Runway is a model company with a creative suite. The alternatives are other model families, multi-model hubs, or editors that use generation as one ingredient.
The strongest Runway AI alternatives are Kling (its own models with reusable Elements), Higgsfield (many vendors' models under one plan), Pika (effect-led short clips), invideo (generation plus a timeline) and Vidmoat (an editor with consistent characters and Studio AI video). Runway starts free with 125 one-time credits; Standard is $12 a month billed yearly.[1][2][3][4][5]

Where the others are genuinely better
- Runway itself edits existing video with a model (Aleph 2.0) and includes its MCP on Pro; Vidmoat's AI video only generates new shots.[13][5]
- Kling's Elements can be built from a short video of a character, not only images.[1]
- Higgsfield and invideo offer far more generation models than Vidmoat.[2][4]
Who should pick which
You want one model family with reusable Elements.[1]
You want to switch between many models.[2]
You need the generated shots edited with your filmed footage, captions and music.
How to do it in Vidmoat
- Create a Vidmoat account and open Generate.
- Add your character or product to the Cast tray from 1 to 8 reference images (free on every plan).
- Generate images on Creator or Studio, or AI video shots on Studio, with the Cast members picked. The price shows before anything is made.
- Run the consistency check and retake only the shots that drifted.
- Send the shots to a project and cut them on the timeline with captions, music and a grade, then export.
Pricing
Vidmoat Hobby is free: 3 projects, 720p exports with a small watermark and 40 AI credits a month. Creator is $19 a month, or $15 a month billed yearly, with 2160p (4K) exports, no watermark and 1,500 AI credits a month. Studio is $49 a month, or $39 a month billed yearly, with 6,000 AI credits a month, AI video generation and personal API keys.

What Vidmoat does not do
- Vidmoat does not edit existing footage with a generative model; its AI video makes new shots, on Studio only.
- Talking photos and lip sync are not generally available to Vidmoat accounts today.
- Fetching a video from a social link is not switched on today.
- Upscaling is not a general feature yet: it is limited to paid plans in the app.
