Ask the AI to edit and it works through the timeline step by step. Sometimes a run ends without applying anything. Here is what that means and what it costs.
When credits come back automatically
You are refunded, without asking, when a run:
- errored before delivering the work,
- attempted edits but applied none of them,
- stopped and asked you a question instead of editing,
- had nothing on the timeline to act on,
- answered in words when it should have acted,
- or was never reported back at all, which we sweep and refund after 45 minutes.
When they do not come back, and why
A run that applied all of your edits and then hit an error on the way out keeps its charge. The work is on your timeline. You will see a message saying the changes landed and it stopped there rather than carrying on. A run that applied some of what it attempted also keeps its charge, because it delivered something.
Credits spent generating media are never refunded. If the agent made an image, a video or a voiceover, that file cost real money to produce and is sitting on your timeline, so it stays charged even when the surrounding edit failed.
There is also a daily ceiling of 60 refunded credits per account. It exists to stop a broken integration draining us, and if you hit it legitimately, tell us.
If you disagree with any of that
Press No on the Was this what you wanted? bar under the run. A thumbs-down refunds the run's credits on the spot, once, and tells us which instruction was missed. It also stops that run being used as an example for future runs. You will see Sorry that missed, I've credited N back.
The commonest reason a run does nothing: no footage
The AI edits what is on the timeline. An empty timeline has nothing to cut, caption or grade. That case is detected, refunded and named.
Asking a question is not an edit
Ask "what does this do?" and it answers in words and changes nothing. That is correct behaviour, and since it was a question rather than an instruction you are not charged for it.
A command that ran but changed nothing
You may see Some edits couldn't be applied followed by a specific reason, such as a property that belongs to a different command. That message is the honest version: a command that ran without error but left the document identical is reported as a failure now, rather than as success.
