Exporting

Export settings, resolution and the watermark

The formats and quality options, exactly what free exports are capped at, and how to get 4K.

The Export button is in the editor top bar. It opens a dialog with a platform preset row, then the individual settings.

Presets

YouTube, TikTok / Reels, X / Twitter and Draft preview. Draft preview deliberately renders at half resolution and low quality so you can check an edit quickly.

The settings

  • Format: MP4, WEBM or GIF.
  • Resolution: full or half, described in the dialog with the actual pixel dimensions.
  • Frame rate: 24, 30 or 60 fps.
  • Quality: Draft, Standard or High. This changes file size and sharpness, not resolution.
  • Loudness: a checkbox to normalise to minus 14 LUFS, which is what YouTube, TikTok and Spotify target. On by default, and hidden for GIF.

What a free export is capped at

Hobby exports are capped at 720, and the cap applies to the short edge. So a 16:9 project comes out at 1280x720 and a 9:16 vertical project comes out at 720x1280. Vertical video is not penalised. When the cap applies you will see Exporting at 720p, upgrade for higher resolution.

Creator, Studio, Team and Enterprise are capped at 2160, which is 4K.

Getting 4K

Resolution in the export dialog does not unlock 4K on its own. The export mirrors the project canvas. Open Project Settings from the three-dot menu and set the resolution tier to 4K there first. On a free plan that tile is disabled with the tooltip Upgrade to Creator or Studio for 4K.

The watermark

Free exports carry a small rounded Vidmoat pill in the bottom-right corner. It is drawn into the video itself, so it is in the file, not an overlay you can hide.

Creator and above remove it. There is no setting for it on the free plan: the plan is the setting. The same pill is shown in the editor preview with an X you can click, which opens the upgrade dialog rather than removing it from the export.

There is no hidden or forensic watermark of any kind. Nothing else touches your picture.

Priority renders

Creator and above skip ahead in the render queue. You will see a note in the dialog saying so.

Did that not cover it?
