Account & billing

Paying, upgrading and cancelling

How to buy a plan, where to cancel, and what happens to your access afterwards.

Buying a plan

From the pricing page. Pick monthly or yearly, then the button on the plan card. Card checkout is the main route, and the button says which method it is using. In some countries we route your card through a local processor because international cards get declined there more often, and the page tells you which currency you will be charged in.

If the button says Temporarily unavailable, checkout is briefly offline. Email fred@vidmoat.com and we will set you up by hand.

Where your billing lives

The account page, not a page called Billing. It shows your plan, the price, whether it Renews or Cancels on a date, your credit and export meters with when they reset, and your plan limits. Team billing is separate, under the team, and visible to admins and owners only.

Cancelling

Account page, Manage plan, then Cancel subscription. The confirm reads: Cancel your subscription? It stays active until the end of your paid period, then moves to the free Hobby plan.

That is what happens. Cancelling stops the renewal, not your access. You keep everything you paid for until the date shown, and the page then reads Cancels on that date instead of Renews.

The same menu has Manage on your payment provider, which opens their portal for the card on file and your receipts. We do not keep receipts on the account page: they live with the payment provider. Numbered PDF invoices exist only for organisations billed by invoice.

Downgrading to the free plan

Different from cancelling. Downgrading cancels the subscription and banks your unused time as account credit, which then appears on the account page as an amount applied to your next plan charge. It is credit, not a cash refund.

A failed payment does not lock you out

A failed charge marks the subscription past due. It never revokes access. Paying again clears it and you keep the time you had.

Apple and app store subscriptions

If your plan was bought inside an app, it is managed in that store's settings, not here. The account page tells you which one owns your subscription so you are not sent to the wrong place.

Promo codes

The Have a promo code? link on the pricing page. Some codes are money off and only work at card checkout. Others are grants: they hand you the plan directly with no card at all and simply end when they end. The message after you apply one says which kind you got.

There is a free trial available as a code, 5 days of Creator, redeemed as WELCOME on the pricing page. It is not automatic on signup.

Did that not cover it?

Send us a ticket and we will answer. If you are signed in it arrives with your plan and any recent errors attached, so you do not have to describe them.
